SUMMARY:Madison River Aquatic Insect Monitoring
DESCRIPTION:Volunteers are needed March 3rd-6th to help The Salmonfly Project perform aquatic insect surveys on the Madison River.  No previous scientific experience is required – only the ability to wade confidently in cold\, knee-deep water while carrying nets/supplies. \nData collection is part of SFP’s two-year study to track how aquatic insect diversity\, abundance\, and ecosystem integrity have changed on the Madison River over the last 50 years. \nTimeframe: Volunteers are needed from 10:00am-5:00pm each day. A minimum volunteer-time of 4 hours is required to allow sufficient time for training\, but its preferred for volunteers to stay for an entire day\, if possible. Volunteers are also being gathered from local fly shops and Trout Unlimited Chapters \nWhat you’ll need: Please bring your own waders\, boots\, and other basic supplies (e.g.\, food\, water\, etc.). \nWhere to meet: Meeting locations will be coordinated via email or text\, but will occur at one of five sampling sites: 1) Three Forks\, 2) Norris Campground\, 3) Beartrap Canyon Boat Ramp\, 4) Ennis Fishing Access\, or 5) Varney Bridge. \nIntersted? Sign up for a specific day and time via our Google Sign Up Sheet. \nQuestions? Reach out to The Salmonfly Project at conservation@salmonflyproject.org.
