DESCRIPTION:The Salmonfly Project is excited to invite you to our upcoming quarterly webinar on Thursday\, June 25th\, from 6:30 – 8:00 PM MT. This quarter\, we’re inviting aquatic entomologist Rick Hafele to share his insect expertise and how anglers can level up their bug knowledge in order to “match the hatch.” Registration for this event is FREE\, but Salmonfly Project members will automatically be enrolled in a raffle to win a Patagonia Black Hole Duffel Bag (40 L). \nSpace is limited! Be sure to register to claim your spot! \nThe Salmonfly Project Quarterly Webinar \nwith Rick Hafele \nThursday\, June 25th \n6:30–8:00 PM MDT \nRick Hafele has a Master’s degree in aquatic entomology and a minor in fisheries biology\, and has worked as a professional aquatic biologist for over 40 years. The majority of his professional life was spent working for the Oregon Dept of Environmental Quality as an aquatic biologist. While there\, he helped develop sampling protocols and assessment methods for aquatic invertebrates\, was the lead author of Oregon’s Biocriteria standard\, and managed the bioassessment and statewide water monitoring programs. In addition\, Rick has been passionate about fly fishing and passing on information about aquatic invertebrates to anglers. Books to his credit include The Complete Book of Western Hatches (with Dave Hughes\, Amato Pub\, 1981)\, An Angler’s Guide to Aquatic Insects and Their Imitations (with Scott Roederer\, Johnson Books\, 1995)\, Western Mayfly Hatches (with Dave Hughes\, Amato Pub\, 2005)\, Nymph Fishing Rivers and Streams (Stackpole Books\, 2006)\, and most recently the two volume set Tactics for Trout and Seasons for Trout (Stackpole Books\, 2014) co-authored with Dave Hughes and Skip Morris.  In addition\, Rick is well known for instructional DVDs that include the 1983 classic Anatomy of a Trout Stream and\, more recently\, the four-volume set titled Fly Fishing Large Western Rivers\, plus Nymph Fishing Basics\, Advanced Nymph Fishing\, and Advanced Tactics for Emergers & Dries.
